A Celebration of Giving: Navy League Breakfast

December 6, 2025Tyger Burch

This week I had the opportunity to represent TK Urban Garden at our monthly Navy League Breakfast held here in San Diego where not only were they taking part in the annual Toys for Tots program but also honoring the achievements of Sailors and Civilians who exemplified service and sacrifice this year.

We also heard from guest speaker Captain Andrew "Andy" Koy, Sr. who shared from his experiences from his small town in Bellville, Texas to his amazing career leading him to command the USS Sterett (DDG 104) among other proud distinctions.

The thing that stood out too me was his story of his visits and connections with the people of Somerset County, PA who have a naval ship named in honor and the memory of those who died there on 9/11 aboard United Airlines Flight 93. It was touching to hear his and other Sailor's experience there and their commitment to continue to connect and support the community there, some two decades later.

It was incredible meeting with some of the trailblazers and future makers of the Navy and Marine Corps and share not only in celebrating some of their accomplishments but the amount of toys that were brought in to be donated to kids this holiday was awe inspiring. We can't wait to do it again next year!
