For those who already know, the last few weeks have been a chaotic mix of sadness and joy for us here at the urban garden. We've have unfortunately lost another member of our animal family during that time while also adding to it in extraordinary fashion.
On October 2nd, we said farewell to our big fluffily cloud princess Sora. We adopted her as a rescue from the historic Sweetwater Animal Shelter (thank you for 70 years of faithful service to the community) when she was just around two. She lived to be nearly nine and while cancer made her final year challenging, she was her goofy and energetic self to the end. We are forever blessed and grateful to have had found her. While we are deeply saddened, she is no longer with us, we are comforted in knowing she is no longer in pain.

We are also touched by the outpouring of love and support we've received from our friends and community when we shared the news on IG and Facebook. It was so awesome to see how many people remembered and loved our not-so-little ball of attitude. All of your messages brought a shining light to a very dark day. We can't thank you enough!
In typical Sora fashion; she made sure to take care of her silly humans. Just before our final day with her we came across a set of lost and stranded pups. They had apparently been injured and abandoned for quite some time. They needed someone to take care of them and clearly Sora thought Ryder needed some help taking care of us. So... we introduce to you our two new family members Loki and Faye.

We can't wait to share more about them later but for now they are integrating into our family here at the urban garden and Loki specifically is healing up from a number of surgeries to get him back in romping shape. While this is absolutely no replacing any of our four-legged family members who have left us, we always to keep this home a warm and open place for the people (and pets) that need it.
A special thank you to our neighbors who have already supplied us in resources and contacts to help us get these two ragamuffins trained up once they are ready and the wonderful people at VCA Emergency Animal Hospital and the San Diego Humane Society who helped us along with the Lost Dogs San Diego Facebook Group.
The last thing we'll say for now is, please consider adopting (and/or donating to) from the San Diego Humane Society. These pups and more (we saw everything from cats to pigs) could use your love and attention and they will brighten your life up as much as you will theirs. Have a great weekend and get out and play with you pets if you have them in this great weather!
